A CON TO CONSIDER: PIXEL BURN
Just another fact about CCD video . . .
For whatever reason(s), a CCD image sensor may, at some point, develop a 'pixel burn-in'. What is it? Well, certainly nothing to be afraid of. An image sensor element is hundreds of thousands of tiny picture elements and, occasionally- one of those elements fails and appears as (usually) a bright white dot on the screen. Obviously, one of several hundred thousand will not appear large- and is usually only even visible to the human eye in very low light conditions or when the lens is covered entirely. The following is a brief note to those pain-in-the-rear customers who wouldn't ever really be satisfied unless every little thing would always be perfect. This is a fact of life and NOT something which can be "fixed" or reversed. Nor is it covered by any type of warranty, etc.. We have never seen a manufacturer of chipsets of bullet and board cameras which are immune to this condition, though we have seen low grade units experience a large number of them in relatively short order. In general, from our quality components. Putting an excellent chipset into a camera is NOT all that really matters. It comes down to BOTH the quality of the image sensor AND the manufacturing of the camera itself. There are many more manufacturers of cameras than there are of chipsets.
